KHABAROVSK, May 2 (RIA Novosti, Oleg Kulgin) - A snow cyclone has hit the Khabarovsk region, in Russia's Far East.
The temperature has dropped five degrees below the season's average for that area and the precipitation levels have exceeded a two-months' norm.
The blizzard has disrupted road traffic and prompted temporary closure of airports, Emergencies Ministry officials report. Electricity supplies to the region's northeastern communities have been cut off owing to the damage done by the avalanche to power transmission lines.
This is the first such cyclone to lash the area in the past fifty years. Flowers are usually in full blossom here at this time of the year.
