KIEV, May 5 (RIA Novosti) - Robert Shackley, 76, one of the world's foremost science fiction authors, is getting better. He has regained consciousness and is talking, and asked his doctors to get him off the volume ventilator, Novosti/Ukraine news agency reports with reference to Ukraine's Channel Five television.
The renowned American guest is in a private nursing home in Kiev, and has spent several days in medication sleep. Doctors refuse to offer whatever information-that on an express request from the patient's relations.
The elderly celebrity came to Ukraine three weeks ago, for an International SF Assembly. He caught a chill while in Odessa, got very bad within a few days, and was put to hospital with progressing respiratory embarrassment.
