Turkmen President Saparmurat Niyazov, General of the Army and Supreme Commander-in-Chief, observed the wargame, the Turkmen mass media report.
The press reports that the exercise involved a motor rifle division, Air Force and Antimissile Defense units, artillery, engineering troops, signal troops, departments of the rear, medical units, other auxiliary forces and means. Fighters MiG-29, assault planes Su-25, helicopters Mi-24 and Mi-8, antiaircraft self-propelled units Shilka, antiaircraft artillery system S-60, antiaircraft missile systems OSA and Strela-2, tanks and infantry combat vehicles took part in the exercise.
According to the media, Niyazov set high score by the level of training of Turkmen officers and men. He thanked the defense minister and the entire personnel for success of the exercise and promised a prize of 100,000 dollars for all the participants.
