KREMLIN REGIMENT DAY TO BE MARKED ON SATURDAY

MOSCOW, May 6 (RIA Novosti) - On Saturday, May 7, the Presidential Regiment Day will be marked on the Kremlin's Cathedral Square.

The regiment is part of the Federal Guard Service (FSO) and is ranked as a secret service. The Presidential (Kremlin) Regiment is subordinated directly to the President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Federation. "An official parade of infantry and mounted guards, now regularly held in the Kremlin, will take place on the Presidential Regiment Day, May 7", public and media relations FSO officer Sergei Devyatov told RIA Novosti.

Another important component of the parade will be the performance by different wind instrument orchestras, including the Kremlin orchestra.

Its conductor Anton Orlov said in the RIA Novosti interview that Cathedral Square will gather musical collectives from also countries of the anti-Hitler coalition - the United States, France and the United Kingdom.

Students of the Moscow Military Music School will open the concert. At precisely 16:00 they will emerge on the square and perform the signal Moscow Parade Fanfare.

They will be followed by a joint performance by the Kremlin Orchestra and the Guard-of-Honor Company of the Kremlin regiment.

The Central Orchestra of the French Air Force, pipers and drummers of the Irish Guard and the Grenadier Guard, Central Orchestra of the Royal Air Force of the United Kingdom, the United States Europe Land Forces' Central Orchestra, students of the Moscow Military Music School will then join in.

At about 17:00 all the music collectives, as well as students of the Moscow Military Conservatory will merge into a combined international orchestra, conducted by the chief military conductor Valeri Khalilov, head of the Military Orchestra Service of the Russia Armed Forces.
