"As an ASEAN candidate for the post of the UN Secretary General, I arrive in Russia to take some lessons and learn what I will have to do in UN reforms, particularly, to make peace," Surakiat Sathianthai stressed.
Not only Thailand, but ASEAN on the whole supported Surakiat Sathianthai's candidacy for the post of the UN Secretary General, Sergei Lavrov said at a press conference.
"The Russian side agrees with UN Secretary General Kofi Annan that his successor should be an ASEAN representative," Lavrov stressed.
