Fundamentalism creates favorable environment for international terrorism, Margelov emphasized.
"It is hard to predict further developments in Uzbekistan. The Uzbek authorities are reportedly ready to take resolute measures against rebels in Andizhan. The events in the Fergana valley are a challenge against the incumbent leadership. It is proved by the existence of powerful and hostile underground forces," Mikhail Margelov said.
Uzbekistan is one of the key members of the international anti-terrorist coalition acting against the Taliban and Al Qaida. Therefore, it is necessary to preserve stability in the country, he stressed.
