MOSCOW, May 14 (RIA Novosti) - Today Russia has 300 Wi-Fi hotspots, reports the web site of computer and IT news cnews.ru. Their number has increased threefold over the last six months, said Vladimir Morozyuk, air technologies director of the Comstar United Telesystems company.

According to him, the dynamics of Wi-Fi hotspots' distribution in Russia is much higher than in Europe. In 2005, Russia lacking a developed market of Wi-Fi hotspots will see their explosive growth. By the end of 2005, their number will reach 800 and will exceed 1,000 by the end of 2006. Many companies tend to give up services of small operators which fail to provide high-quality channels and users' support.

Speaking about the potential of further development of hotspots, Morozyuk noted that in the conditions of rapid growth of the amount of Wi-Fi hotspots, the problem of roaming between them is becoming vital. Comstar and its partners MTT and INLINE Technologies intend to tackle this issue. The companies presented a Wi-Fi roaming project at the Communications-Expocomm-2005 exhibition in Moscow.
