Documents were seized from journalists who intended to make a report about the riots in the city.
"People who detained the reporters claim that they are representatives of the local administration. They explain the detention with the tense situation in the region giving no other comments," REN TV said.
According to Marianna Maksimovskaya, a hostess of the REN TV information program, the detained journalists were to make a report on the events in Andizhan for the Nedelya (Week) news program. Now the report will be hardly released.
"We are not sure whether they will set free the reporters and let them work," said Maksimovskaya.
A REN TV spokesman told RIA Novosti on the phone that the journalists had not been set free yet.
Some other correspondents were detained and later released in Andizhan.
