TEHRAN, May 15 (RIA Novosti's Nikolai Terekhov) - Iran delays its planned uranium enrichment operations at a nuclear center in the town of Isfahan for several days, says Sirus Naseri, the country's nuclear negotiator with European Union.
"As we were going to resume part of uranium enrichment operations in Isfahan and send an official notification to IAEA, the European trio (France, Germany, and UK) said they were planning a top-level meeting," he told reporters on Sunday. "In view of possible agreement, we have delayed these operations for several days," he added.
The Iranian negotiator warned EU delegates against using "threat language" against Tehran because Iran was positive about resuming uranium enrichment in Isfahan.
"The operation of the Isfahan Nuclear Center plays a minor role in the overall nuclear fuel production activity; therefore, it should not raise any fears," Naseri said.
Should Tehran resume Isfahan enrichment operations, EU delegates had warned, Iran's nuclear dossier would be submitted to the UN Security Council for decision whether to impose economic sanctions on the country.
Iran, on its part, has repeatedly responded that possible sanctions would be of little avail, because Iran had lived under economic restrictions for many years.
