"For Russia, the value of the State Treaty is that it laid the groundwork of friendly relations with Austria. This is largely why Russia has agreed to exhibit the original of the State Treaty for the Re-establishment of an Independent and Democratic Austria," he said.
The minister said Russia and Austria were equal partners in a united Europe of today.
"The high level of our relations is broadly based on mutual account for each other's interests," he underscored.
In his speech at the ceremony, Austrian chancellor Wolfgang Schuessel described Russia as one of Austria's most important strategic partners. He thanked Russia for an opportunity for the Austrians to see the original of the treaty that re-established Austria as a free and independent state. According to him, over 50,000 visitors have already seen it, and scores of thousands more are expected.
