A Kyrgyz police source told RIA Novosti there was no gunfire at the village of Tekish-Tash on the Uzbek-Kyrgyz border.
A source in the Uzbek interior ministry said the ministry had no information about "gunfire and casualties among the military personnel."
The worrying reports had come from Associated Press who, referring to local residents' accounts, said Uzbek protesters had attacked the military, killing several soldiers.
The Kyrgyz police source also said the situation was calm around a camp of Uzbek refugees who fled the country in the wake of yesterday's uproar. On Sunday, the Kyrgyz presidential representative in the south of the country and envoys of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees met with the people and assessed the situation.
