NALCHIK, May 20 (RIA Novosti) - A terrorist cache has been found in a suburb of Nalchik, capital of Kabardino-Balkaria, one of Russia's North Caucasian autonomies. It was unearthed today in the Kizilovka neighborhood, 15 meters off a highway.
Conspicuous among the finds were two Nalchik maps marking sites of tentative terror acts-in particular, the railroad terminal, a market and several other spots, a republican Interior Ministry officer said to Novosti.
There was a makeshift landmine, wired and ready to blast, made of a 155 mm artillery cartridge, plus seven hand-grenades, a stock of cartridges, and an underbarrel grenade launcher in the cachet.
Detectives fell on its track while questioning a detained militant suspected of involvement in an attack on the republican Drug Control Board premises last December. Four officers on duty were killed as the criminals stole more than 250 guns and a huge batch of ammunition.
