The Russian delegation at the Congress is headed by Chairman of the Russian Audit Chamber Sergei Stepashin, who was elected president of this prominent organization during the previous EUROSAI Congress in Moscow in 2002. He will deliver a report on EUROSAI activities for the last three years.
According to EUROSAI Charter, Stepashin will transfer the responsibilities as president of this organization to the head of the supreme audit institution of the country currently hosting the EUROSAI congress, president of the German Audit Chamber Dieter Engels.
The congress participants will discuss such issues as the role of the supreme audit institutions in the budget forming process, the methods of financial control and their effectiveness, the technology of auditing the expenses on environmental protection and control of funds spent on the development of information technologies.
EUROSAI was founded in 1990. The Russian Audit Chamber became a member of EUROSAI in 1995, right after its establishment.
