MOSCOW, May 29 (RIA Novosti) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice discussed preparations for an international conference on Iraq scheduled for late June 2005 on the phone on Saturday.
The sides also discussed certain aspects of Russian-US cooperation in the fight against terrorism, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Saturday. The diplomats exchanged opinions about the results of the recent Non-Proliferation Treaty review conference in New York.
"The Russian foreign minister and the US Secretary of State expressed satisfaction with the fact that during the recent meeting between foreign ministers of the European Trio and Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran Hasan Rouhani, the sides agreed to continue talks between the trio and Tehran on the Iranian nuclear program," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
