BAIKONUR, June 2 (RIA Novosti) - Vladimir Putin has arrived at the Baikonur launching site in Kazakhstan for the 50th anniversary celebrations. Kazakh leader Nursultan Nazarbayev who arrived at Baikonur half an hour earlier met Putin at the steps to the aircraft. The Baikonur launching site is marking its 50th anniversary today. It is a powerful Russian R&D complex on Kazakh territory. Over the fifty years, about 2,500 space missiles and ICBMs (intercontinental ballistic missiles) have been launched from Baikonur.
