MOSCOW, June 5 (RIA Novosti, Maria Gusarova) - For the fifth time, an underwater "voluntary clean-up day" (subbotnik) is held on the territory of the Serebryany Bor recreation zone in Moscow.

According to president of the Russian diving federation Anna Arzhanova, divers will clean 400 square meters of the near-the-shore underwater area at one of the beaches. Many volunteers participate in this event conducted every year, she said.

"Divers participate in this event with pleasure. It is like a game for them. Sometimes they find real surprises there. For instance, they found a self-made, but real revolver last year in Nizhny Novgorod (the Volga region)," Arzhanova said.

Divers normally work in pairs. Each dive lasts about 40 minutes.

Divers have already found several sharp tree branches with nails, and car wheel, many plastic and glass bottles and tin cans.

Serebryany Bor is a wonderful nature outlet within Moscow. It is an environmental preserve of regional importance. It is not just a park of a park zone. It is an authentic forest still featuring a large population of wild animals and birds. It has been a favorite spot for Muscovites for many years. In good weather, up to 40,000 local residents visit the area every weekend (according to the analysis of the passenger flow on public transport).
