KUBINKA (Moscow region), June 8 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian air force and other arms and services of the army will have up to 60 percent of the latest equipment by 2012, presidential aide Alexander Burutin told journalists.
"A new program of armaments has been prepared and by 2010 to 2012 we plan to go for these levels," Burutin said.
Today the Russian army has only 20 to 30 percent of new machines, he said.
In turn, Army General Vladimir Mikhailov, Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Air Force, told journalists that the AF has enough warplanes and new ones are being entered in the inventories.
"We are getting new Su-34, Su-27SM and other machines. They are undergoing troop tests," Mikhailov said.
"We have no claims to be put to them," he stressed.
As regards the fifth-generation fighter, Mikhailov said: "Work on it is strictly according to the schedule and the fighter will be airborne by 2007."
