BRUSSELS, June 9 (RIA Novosti) - Russia is planning for next year a command and staff exercise to drill theater anti-missile defense. The games will be held in the territory of Russia , Sergei Ivanov, Russia's Defense Minister, said to the Russia-NATO Council, as it was holding session in Brussels today.
"We are planning for 2006 one of our regular theater anti-missile defense command and staff exercises in the Russian territory. We also intend to start preparing an all-round peacekeeping exercise, which will involve military cargo aviation, ground troops, special purpose troops, and liaison units."
The blueprinted exercises comply with a Russian proposal to NATO countries not only to elaborate the theoretical basis for partnership but also to extend the geography of military training, and enhance practical efficiency of such training, the minister said.
