"This certified dogs exhibition is unique in many ways and not for Kaliningrad only. The exhibition attracts more and more visitors with each year. This year not only Russians but some 100 guests from five European countries are expected to attend the exhibition," the spokesman said.
According to him, the main prize is also unique in some way. "It's an amber intaglio in a silver setting, made by a graver from Kalinigrad," he said.
"The uniqueness of the exhibition is that there will be represented all nine types of the breed, including dachshund miniature and dachshund caninchen, which do not exist in Kaliningrad," the spokesman said.
According to him, Kaliningrad was selected to host the dogs championship for a special reason.
"According to historic chronicles this particular breed of hunting dogs was completely formed in the Eastern Prussia, where currently the Lermontovsky village is situated (Kaliningrad suburbs). Therefore, the dachshund has all rights to become a visit card of Kaliningrad," the spokesman said.
