MOSCOW, June 12 (RIA Novosti) - Russian politicians condemned today's bombing of the Grozny-Moscow passenger train in which the train was derailed and 15 to 30 people injured, as an attempt to spoil a national holiday and incite ethnic hatred towards Chechens.

The attackers sought to spoil the holiday and again "encourage the public to believe that the Chechens were involved," Eddi Isayev, head of the press service of Chechnya in Moscow, told RIA Novosti.

"This was an attack seeking to incite hatred between the Chechens and Russians. But no one can do that," he said, "June 12 is our common holiday."

Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Security Committee Mikhail Grishankov also emphasized the date.

"Militants try to stage their attacks on such landmark days," he said.

According to the lawmaker, the attack speaks volumes about "the weapons and power the militants still retain."

Security services must do more to prevent further attacks on railways, he said.
