MOSCOW

* A four-sided meeting on the Georgian-Abkhaz settlement will open in Moscow. Delegations of Russia, Georgia and Abkhazia, and representatives of the UN mission in Georgia and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees will discuss the restoration of railway traffic on the Sochi-Tbilisi route (17.30).

* The central operations department of RAO Unified Energy Systems of Russia (Russia's electricity monopoly) will host a visiting session of the State Duma working group for the investigation into the May 25 power crisis in the Moscow region (13.00).

* The Russian Information Agency Novosti will host the following press conferences:

- with Vice President of the Academy of Geopolitical Problems Colonel-General Leonid Ivashov on the topic "Russia-NATO: problems of operative compatibility. The Russian Army on the post-Soviet space" (11.00);

- on the topic "Alfa Bank and the Lauder Institute of the Norton Business School (U.S.) will present the award For merits in the sphere of foreign investments in Russia-2005 of the United Technologies Corporation" (12.00). The awarding ceremony will take place at the Pushkin State Fine Arts Museum on June 15, 2005. Former British Prime Minister (1990-1997) John Major will be the guest of honor.

* The Izvestia media center will host:

- a press conference on the topic "Joint anti-drug efforts of the state, public and culture structures. The Train to the Future nationwide anti-drug event" (11.00);

- a roundtable on the topic "Mikhail Kasyanov - President-2008. Facts and forecasts" with political analysts Sergei Markov, Valery Khomyakov and Maxim Dianov (13.00).

* The Moscow Carnegie Center will host a roundtable on the results of the Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons which took place in New York in May 2005 (9.30).

* The Moscow municipal court will consider the cassation complaint of Pavel Lyuzakov, a reporter of the Chechen separatist web site Kavkaz Center and editor of the Svobodnoye Slovo newspaper. In May the Ostankino Court sentences him to 2 years in prison for illegal purchase and keeping of weapons.

* The Moscow regional court will consider the plea of the prosecutor's office which demands the liquidation of the National Bolshevik Party.

ST. PETERSBURG

* Leader of the United Progressive Alliance of the Republic of India Sonia Gandhi, currently in Russia, will arrive in St. Petersburg.

* The Russian Information Technologies and Mass Communications Ministry will hold a roundtable on the formation and development of a common information space in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) as part of the 9th international economic forum in St. Petersburg. Minister Leonid Reiman and Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council (the upper house of the Russian parliament) will oversee the roundtable at the Popov central communications museum.

VOLGOGRAD

* An international security information center will open in the Volgograd state service academy under the support of the NATO Public Diplomacy Division. The division is to help open other contact points in Russian education institutions.

BISHKEK

* Head of the mission of the CIS observers at the presidential elections in Kyrgyzstan, chairman of the CIS executive committee Vladimir Rushailo will arrive in Bishkek to monitor preparations for the elections (June 15-17).

DUSHANBE

* President of the European bank for reconstruction and development (EBRD) Jean Lemierre will arrive in Tajikistan on a routine visit. He is to attend an international banking conference.

TALLINN

* The Estonian parliament will consider the bill on the ratification of the agreements on the Russian-Estonian border and the demarcation of water areas in the gulfs of Narva and Finland in the second final reading. The agreements were signed by Russian and Estonian Foreign Ministers Sergei Lavrov and Urmas Paet on May 18 in Moscow. Two-thirds of parliamentarians should approve the ratification.

WASHINGTON

* Head of the Russian federal atomic energy agency Alexander Rumyantsev will arrive in the U.S. on a two-day visit.
