SHEFFIELD (Great Britain), June 17 (RIA Novosti, Alexander Smotrov) - Russia will focus on the fight against international terrorism and drug trafficking during its G8 presidency, Russian Interior Minister Rashid Nuragliyev said on Friday.

He attended a meeting of G8 interior and justice ministers in Sheffield. Russia will assume G8 presidency in 2006. Great Britain is the current G8 president.

"I believe that these priorities [the fight against international terrorism and drug trafficking] need additional efforts," the minister said.

"The Russian Federation spoke on all the six main issues of the agenda," he said adding that they would be priorities in 2006 and some of them would be extended.

"We discussed Afghanistan's drug threat but we should remember that we are facing trafficking of cocaine and synthetic drugs," Nurgaliyev said.

According to him, "this issue should be discussed in Moscow."

The meeting in Sheffield focused on the joint fight against international terrorism, IT crimes and illegal migration, the minister said.

"The Rome-Lyons working group proposed to set up an anti-terrorism system in subway and on railway," he added.

"We forwarded this proposal to all G8 members to work out common anti-terrorist methods in the transport sphere," Nurgaliyev said.

G8 representatives did not have contradictions on common approaches to cooperation in Sheffield. "We have common approaches but different legislations and we discussed the unification of legislations," the minister added.
