MOSCOW, June 17 (RIA Novosti) - Russia is interested in having Kyrgyzstan its legitimate partner as soon as possible, Modest Kolerov said to a seminar in Moscow today.
He heads Russia's federal presidential board for interregional and cultural contacts with other countries.
"Russia is to acquire Kyrgyzstan as legitimate partner, and see a legitimate rule in that country as soon as possible. Those prospects are within essential Russian interests," he said.
At present, Russia is supporting a coalition of Kurmanbek Bakiev and Felix Kulov, Kolerov said as he described the coalition as "an earnest of stability".
Kyrgyzstan is now to go through power legitimization. "There is a lawful, legitimate process, and Kyrgyzstan must travel that road to the end. It must settle all issues within legal limits."
A presidential election has been appointed in Kyrgyzstan for July 10.
