Russian, Ukrainian experts to discuss Azov-Kerch problems in early July

MOSCOW, June 18 (RIA Novosti) - Russia and Ukraine agreed to hold an expert meeting on the Azov-Kerch problems in early June, the Russian Foreign Ministry said following the 21st session of the Russian and Ukrainian negotiation groups.

The session took place in Moscow on June 16 and focused on the delimitation of the Black and Azov Seas and the Kerch Strait problem. The next session is due in early September.

The sides discussed the coordination of the Russian-Ukrainian borderline in the Azov Sea and solution of the Azov problem and agreed to draft an agreement on delimitation of the territorial seas, the continental shelf and exclusive economic zones in the Black Sea on the international marine law basis.

The Russian and Ukrainian delegations also considered drafting bilateral documents on shipping and fishing cooperation in the Azov and Black Seas and the Kerch Strait.

The delegations were headed by Russian Foreign Ministry's special envoy for relations with the CIS, ambassador at large Igor Savolsky and Ukrainian First Deputy Foreign Minister Anton Buteiko.
