BUENOS AIRES, June 18 (RIA Novosti, Yuri Nikolayev) - Russian artists won awards at an international cartoon contest in Uruguay.
"Mikhail Zlatkovsky won a silver medal and Igor Varchenko - a special prize of the jury," the Russian embassy in Uruguay said.
The awards were handed to Russian ambassador Yan Burlyai.
"Participation of Russian artists in Uruguay contests let Uruguayans get a better understanding of our traditions and culture," the ambassador said at the awarding ceremony.
In all, 266 artists from 46 countries took part in the cartoon contest.
