MOSCOW, June 21, (RIA Novosti correspondent Olga Lipich) - Roman Catholic Cardinal Walter Kasper and Russian Orthodox Metropolitan Kirill are scheduled to hold discussions here on problems between the churches.
"The discussions will be focused on the relations between the Russian Orthodox and Roman Catholic Churches and issues related to existing problems between the churches in Russia and CIS-member states," DECR Vice-Chairman Archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin said Monday.
According to Chaplin, the visit of one of the most high-level officials of the Roman Curia was being prepared for several weeks, but said is "routine" in nature.
The cardinal will here through June 23. This is his fourth visit to Russia. After his last visit in 2004, a commission was created to discuss and solve specific problems between the two denominations.
