MOSCOW, June 22 (RIA Novosti, Olga Lipich) - Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov and Moscow government officials laid flowers on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and at the monument to Marshall Georgy Zhukov Wednesday to commemorate the anniversary of Nazi Germany's attack on the Soviet Union.
Veterans and children were also on hand for the ceremony.
The mayor said Friday's Victory Parade would commemorate the day the first Victory Parade took place in 1945 after Germany's surrender.
"It will be a serious event, considering the 60th anniversary of the victory in World War II victory is marked this year," Luzhkov said. "Many guests have been invited." The mayor said the Victory Parade would be very important for all of us.
