Metropolitan Kirill, the chairman of the External Church Relations Department of the Moscow Patriarchate, and Cardinal Walter Kasper, the president of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, discussed this issue in Moscow on Wednesday.
According to the deputy chairman of the External Church Relations Department, Archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin, the moral crisis in Europe was a key topic at the meeting.
"The sides agreed that cooperation between the Russian Orthodox and Catholic Churches in promoting Christian spiritual values in the lives of individuals, families and society was highly important today, when Europe and the world are experiencing a moral crisis and an aggressive obtrusion of secular ideology," Chaplin said.
Metropolitan Kirill and Cardinal Kasper are official partners on Orthodox-Catholic negotiations.
