GROZNY, June 23 (RIA Novosti) - A group of popular Russian musicians have arrived in Grozny, the capital of Chechnya, to help preparations for a rock festival on July 5.
They intend to see how preparations are going and check the stage.
"I hope to get energized by the concert," Sergei Galanin, a rapper in the popular group Serga (Earring), told a news conference.
He said he had agreed to play the festival immediately. "I had some reservations, but these are normal human feelings, and I cannot say it was fear," he said.
Galanin hopes that music festivals and concerts in Chechnya will become a tradition.
Galanin said nine groups from Russia, including two female bands, would participate in the Grozny event.
The government of the Chechen Republic is organizing the festival.
