Greenaway is here attending the premiere of the movie as part of the 27th Moscow International Film Festival.
He said it was a pleasure to work with the Russian cast and crew and that the stereotype that Russian actors stick to conventional methods was untrue.
Greenaway also said that his next film would be about Rembrandt. He said he personally saw Rembrandt as an ingenious cameraman, born 400 years before cinema was invented.
This explores people's inner world - a theme that will never lose its relevance, Greenaway said. He said he envisioned the film as a mix of opera and art. He wanted it to explore the artist's private life, as well as his art.
Greenaway said that one of his personal ambitions was to solve the mystery behind Rembrandt's famous painting "The Night Watch."
