MOSCOW, June 25 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian Central Election Commission and its Central and Eastern European counterparts drafted a European convention on democratic election standards, commission's chairman Alexander Veshnyakov said Saturday.
The Council of Europe's Venice Commission has already examined the draft, he said.
"The examination results show that the draft can be considered and adopted by the Council of Europe," Veshnyakov said.
According to him, the draft does not contradict the Russian election legislation.
"As a Council of Europe member, Russia has a right to submit such a document to this European organization," Veshnyakov said.
