Kremlin officials have differences, but are not split into camps: presidential aide

MOSCOW, June 30 - Kremlin officials may have different viewpoints on issues, but they have not broken up into different camps, a presidential aide told reporters on Thursday.

"The presidential administration is made up of different people who have different views on specific issues, which is natural," said Igor Shuvalov. "Some of them are more liberal-minded, whereas others are conservatives. We talk, argue, and try to find solutions. The question is which viewpoint the president accepts."

"If we cannot settle some issue between us, we ask the chief of the Kremlin staff to intervene. If he is unable to help, we go to the president who makes a decision," said Shuvalov.

"If you read the latest state of the nation address, you will understand whose views the president shares," said Shuvalov

"We are not divided into any camps," he added.

Shuvalov described himself as a 100% liberal on economic and political issues. "However, I am a staunch conservative on issues concerning manning the armed forces," he said.
