GROZNY, July 2 (RIA Novosti) - A gang leader and relative of Shamil Basayev, terrorist number one, has been killed in Chechnya, the press service of the North Caucasus counter-terrorist HQ reports.
According to the press service, "he federal forces conducted a special operation yesterday to eliminate gang leader Bulat Gudayev, 22, who was Basayev's subordinate and relative."
Gudayev had long been a member of the Imurzayev gang under Basayev, and was Imurzayev's closest associate.
According to the press service, Gudayev and Imurzayev were both involved in engineering the terrorist attack of May 9, 2004, at the Dinamo stadium in Grozny, which killed the first Chechen President Akhmad Kadyrov.
Gudayev was also involved in a series of terrorist attacks committed by Basayev's bandits in Chechnya against civilians and authorities.
