MOSKOVSKY (the Moscow region), July 3 (RIA Novosti) - Leader of the Yabloko Party Grigory Yavlinsky said that his party would not form a coalition with the Union of Right Forces (SPS).
"We do not consider the SPS a democratic party. They have always been financed by big businessmen and supported the authorities," Yavlinsky said at a news briefing Sunday.
Yabloko has held a two-day federal council to outline its pre-election strategy.
Yavlinsky said that regional coalitions with the SPS unlike coalitions with other parties were a failure.
Yabloko will remain an opposition party but will draft a new constructive program to form a democratic coalition, he added.
Yabloko did not back independent parliamentarian Vladimir Ryzhkov's proposal to form a new party to correct previous mistakes.
"I do not understand why 85,000 Yabloko members should quit Yabloko to join some unknown structure," Yavlinsky said.
