LONDON, July 4 (RIA Novosti, Alexander Smotrov) - The problem of democracy in Russia will only be discussed at this week's G8 summit at Gleneagles, Scotland, if a leader raises this issue, Sir Michael Jay, the British Prime Minister's G8 aid, said.
Jay said that the leaders were free to choose topics for discussion, and he did not know whether some of them intended to raise this issue.
Russia has always played a constructive role in the G8 work, particularly in energy discussions, Jay said.
Energy issues are expected to be the focus of the Russian G8 presidency in 2006, he added.
