MINSK, July (RIA Novosti) - Belarus and Ukraine face problems in their mutual political relations, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said Tuesday.

Belarusian-Ukrainian relations have suddenly split and demarcated, Lukashenko said at a meeting with leader of the Ukrainian Communist Party Pyotr Simonenko.

Lukashenko said he is particularly concerned with the negative information about Belarus spread in Ukraine.

"It would have been all right if the information were true. Although, real friends try to find the best in relations, but it has turned out the other way around," he said.

Lukashenko said Belarus intends to continue developing bilateral relations.

"No matter what the situation is in Ukraine, it would be a crime to dig a ditch on the border between our countries," he said.

Lukashenko said the Ukrainian communist party will contribute to the development of bilateral relations.

"There is no one else but you to depend on to prevent the split between our countries," he told Simonenko.
