Kiev, July 12 (RIA Novosti) - Spilled mercury was discovered Tuesday outside the Ukrainian president's office in the capital, Kiev.
City Hall officials said a passerby had spotted silvery beads and informed the police about what he suspected to be spilled mercury, the Novosti Ukraina news agency reported.
Forensic experts who arrived at the scene confirmed the suspicions and called for a rescue team to remove the highly toxic substance and decontaminate the area.
The origin of the hazardous spills still remains unclear.
