MOSCOW, July 13 (RIA Novosti) - Russians share the values of liberty, equality and brotherhood proclaimed 216 years ago when the Bastille prison fell in France, Sergei Lavrov said at a meeting devoted to Bastille Day, to be celebrated Thursday.
"The ideas proclaimed during the French Revolution have been in jeopardy recently, above all, by international terrorism," Lavrov said. "The French, as well as the entire world, must unite in the face of the terrorist threat."
Lavrov said mutual understanding and cooperation on the most acute international issues between the two countries had reached a level that allowed them to play an increasingly significant role in ensuring international and European security.
"Russia is interested in and will continue intensifying cooperation with France for the good of our nations," he said.
