Chizhov said the talks will focus on Eide's current post. A decision after the discussions will be made on the basis of his report.
Chizhov said the comprehensive review has begun. He said it is hard to set the timeframe for completion, but did note that the Russian side opposes rushing. He added that when the review is ready, the UN Contact Group on Kosovo and the Security Council will discuss it. If the international community agrees with the conclusion, a decision on whether to start negotiations on Kosovo's status will be made, he said.
Chizhov said none of the Kosovo Standards, a list of internationally recognized standards of life, has been implemented yet.
The status of the non-Albanian population in Kosovo and the return of refugees are the ultimate concerns, Chizhov said, adding that attention should be focused on the implementation of the standards.
Head of the United Nations Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) Soren Jessen Petersen came here July 7 to discuss the Kosovo conflict settlement with high-ranking officials from the Russian Foreign Ministry.
