GROZNY, July 15 (RIA Novosti) - Chechen President Alu Alkhanov asked that people stop linking the word "terrorist" with "Chechen," Friday.

He said that it was time that certain politicians and media representatives stopped labeling Chechens as terrorists.

Alkhanov said he never distinguished between terrorists on the basis of their nationality. "I never say Daghestani, Ossetian or Karachai-Cherkess terrorist, since the whole world knows that terrorists have no nationality and that they can all be characterized by one thing - their inhumanity," the President said.

"We all know who is who, but we never carry out an examination to determine the nationality of a terrorist," Alkhanov said.

He said the heads of terrorist organizations were not Chechens, Englishmen or people of other nationalities. "These are people who do not want the world to live in peace and they don't care where they carry out their terrorist plans as the most important thing for them is to spread death and fear," he added.
