The President met Friday with Russian representatives of the Assembly of the Russian and Lebanese business circles. The Russian delegation, headed by Mikhail Nikolayev, the Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council (parliament's upper chamber), arrived in Lebanon to participate in the 8th regular meeting of the Assembly.
"Lebanese desire to interact with Russia in all spheres, particularly in the trade and economic, comes from the permanent cooperation of the two countries on the international and regional arenas," the President said.
According to Lahoud, Lebanon started to gradually come out of the difficult situation, which emerged in February after the assassination of former Lebanese ex-premier Rafik Hariri, only with the support of friendly countries with Russia in the lead.
The Russian delegation awarded the President with a specially established by the assembly gold medal in honor of the Lebanese-Russian friendship.
