When asked to prove their view, 14 % of respondents who do not support the current course noted people's impoverishment, 10 % referred to economic problems, including inflation and economy's dependence on raw materials export etc., and 10 % pointed to authorities' social policy, including lopsided social stratification and profound indifference to people's needs etc. 6 % of respondents mentioned bureaucracy and corruption and 3 % - accelerated crime and terrorism. 3 % said the country was not developing in general.
Of those people, who support country's development, 7 % referred to higher living standards and declining unemployment, 4 % - to industrial growth and small business development. Both 2 % of ''supporters" noted Putin's leadership and strengthening of law and order in Russia, and 3 % simply said there had been some positive changes in the country.
The VCOIM polled domiciliary 1,500 respondents in 100 settlements in 44 regions and republics, and extra 600 Moscow citizens, with a 3.4 % statistical error.
