BISHKEK, July 19 (RIA Novosti, Yulia Orlova) - Unidentified hackers broke into the Kyrgyz government website (www.gov.kg) late Monday, according to the Kyrgyz Government Information and Telecommunications Department.

Despite strengthened security, the hackers were able to change certain pages on the site, inserting additional content.

The department does not rule out the possibility of political motives. "We cannot confidently say that the interference was merely a prank," said a government spokesman, who confirmed that a full search would be carried out to find the perpetrators.

The site is currently disabled.

During the parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan, which preceded the "tulip revolution" on March 24, hackers managed to partially halt the work of the country's main information agencies.

There were also attempts to break into the Shayloo State Computer System, which was handling voting data in the elections. Internet service providers in Kyrgyzstan managed to track the perpetrators back to the Ukrainian capital before losing their trace.
