MOSCOW, July 22 (RIA Novosti) - A major titanium corporation has been formed in Russia, the Federal Service for Financial Markets said.

The results of the emission of two additional issues of stocks from the new corporation were registered Thursday, the service said.

The VSMPO-Avisma corporation was formed following its merger with the VSMPO Verkhnyaya Salda metallurgical plant in Sverdlovsk near the central Urals. The corporation has branches in Berezniki and Verkhnyaya Salda.

The companies announced their intention to merge into an integrated titanium corporation in early September 2004.

The Russian Federal Anti-Monopoly Service (FAS) endorsed the merger plans. FAS head Igor Artemyev said it was a complicated deal, as the new company would not only dominate the market, but account for two-thirds of it. He also said that this deal would promote Russia's competitive ability on the world market.

On July 1, the corporation's General Director Vladislav Tetyukhin signed an order making Avisma and VSMPO equal parts of a single corporation.

VSMPO is one of the world's largest titanium producers for the aerospace industry. The company also works with aluminum, nickel alloys and special steels.

Avisma accounts for 32% of the world's titanium sponge production and 6% of magnesium production. The company exports 50-70% of its products.

The VSMPO-Avisma has taken over as the world's largest producer of titanium products, mainly for the aerospace industry.
