MOSCOW, July 30 (RIA Novosti) - A concert is now underway in celebration of the 75th anniversary of Russia's airborne forces.
Airborne Division Commander Alexander Kolmakov gave the welcoming speech.
"In two days, the airborne forces will celebrate their 75th anniversary. I would like to convey warm words to all who in 1930 formed a tradition in creating the airborne division. Today the airborne forces are unique in their solidarity", he said.
A large number of airborne divisions and World War II veterans are present.
Before the end of the day, there will be a performance from airborne forces sportsmen, a military technology parade, a dramatization of historical battles, in particular battles from the 1812 War and World War II.
This event is one of many planned in connection with the airborne forces' three-quarter century. The celebrations will continue until August 2 , ending with a performance at the Rossiya concert hall in Moscow.
