MOSCOW, August 5 (RIA Novosti) - An operation to rescue the AS-28 deep-sea submersible stranded on the Pacific seabed might start in five hours, an assistant to the Russian navy's commander said.
Igor Dygalo said the emergency headquarters had developed a plan to rescue the submersible, which is stranded at the depth of about 190 meters because its propeller is stuck in a fishing net.
"We will be ready to start the plan in about five hours," Dygalo told a news conference before adding that the submersible's oxygen supply would last for a day.
He also said a U.S. Navy plane had departed for San Diego to pick up and deliver a Scorpion submersible to the site of the accident.
The U.K. is sending a plane to join the rescue mission, he added.
