MOSCOW, August 5 (RIA Novosti) - The Thursday terrorist act in Israel was a crime against the whole world, a Russian parliament member said Friday.

"The act of the terrorist, aimed at frustrating the peaceful settlement process between Israel and Palestine, was a crime not only against Palestinians, but against the whole world," Mikhail Margelov, the Chairman of the Federation Council committee on international affairs, said in statement Friday.

"Today, when there is a real chance to settle the many-year contradictions, Palestinian and Israeli interior oppositions are maximizing efforts to frustrate the process," Margelov said. "The most important thing for Ariel Sharon and Mahmoud Abbas is to remain unprovoked and preserve the right course for Palestinian-Israeli relations.

"In the light of the recent explosions in Egypt, London, Israel, Iraq and other countries, we have a common task to achieve - to remain unprovoked and unite to fight terrorism," Margelov said.

On Thursday a 19-year-old deserter of the Israeli Army opened fire on a bus in the city of Shfar'am in northern Galilee. Four people were killed and dozens injured, before passers-by attacked and killed the assailant.
