LONDON, August 5 (RIA Novosti, Alexander Smotrov) - Britain will send a Scorpio 45 deep-sea vessel Friday night to rescue the Russian submersible stuck on the Pacific Ocean's seabed, a spokesman for the British Defense Ministry said.
The vessel will be delivered to the site on board a special aircraft, which is expected to leave the United Kingdom Friday night.
It will take about 10 hours to reach the site, the spokesman said.
The Scorpio 45 is a remotely controlled submersible, capable of diving 925 meters while connected to a special cable. The vessel is equipped with three cameras and devices to cut metal cables up to 70 mm thick.
The head of the submarine rescue service at the U.K. Ministry of Defense expressed hope that the Russian sailors would be saved by the time Scorpio 45 reaches the site.
He said the ministry is sending it in case rescue attempts underway fail.
