Moscow Summer Ballet Festival: a classical affair

MOSCOW, August 9 (RIA Novosti) - Moscow's Summer Ballet Festival, currently underway at the Russian Academic Youth Theater, is the city's only dance forum based entirely on a classical repertoire, the daily Novye Izvestia newspaper reported.

Two Moscow-based companies - the Russian National Ballet, led by Sergei and Yelena Radchenko, and the Natalia Sats Children's Music Theater Ballet, led by Vladimir Kirillov - are to give 50 performances before the end of August, Izvestiya said. They will perform traditional stage versions of ballets such as "Swan Lake," "La Bayadere," "Sleeping Beauty," "Gisele," "Don Quixote," and "The Nutcracker."

Festival organizers said these classical productions are intended not to make an impression, but to help audiences develop good taste.
