KIEV, August 11 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian and Ukrainian Security Councils plan by August 20 to agree on procedural rules for the intergovernmental committee which was started by the Ukrainian and Russian presidents on March 19, the Ukrainian Security Council spokesman said Thursday.

The committee's role in Russian-Ukrainian relations and the coordination of its procedural rules and 2005 action plan were the focus of the two-day working meeting between Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) Secretary Pyotr Poroshenko and members of the Russian delegation headed by Russia's Security Council Deputy Secretary Yuri Zubakov, the NDSC spokesman said.

At the meeting, the structure of the council on economic cooperation, and sub-committees on security, international, and humanitarian cooperation were discussed, he said.

The presidents of both countries signed an agreement on the formation of the so-called Putin-Yushchenko Committee after they met in Moscow at the end of the informal CIS summit on May 8.

The committee comprises four councils, dealing with defense, international cooperation, economic cooperation, and humanitarian cooperation.

The security councils of Ukraine and Russia will coordinate the activities of the committee, which is headed by the presidents of both countries.

According to a joint statement, the presidents will hold the committee meetings twice a year.
